Our "Read" campaign is still very popular within our community and with our local elementary students.
The Library recently partnered with TCU's Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority by donating 450 Read bookmarks to be given to students during the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) program at George C. Clarke Elementary in Fort Worth, Texas. Kappa Kappa Gamma funded books that were distributed to the kindergartners.
Did you know...?
Nearly two-thirds of low-income families in the U.S. own no books.
RIF is the largest children's literacy nonprofit in the United States. They prepare and motivate children to ready by delivering free books and literacy resources to those children and families who need them most.
"These children LOVE bookmarks and they take care of them for the long term. I had never seen anything like it until I came to this school," said Beth Enochs, librarian at George C. Clarke Elementary. "A big thanks to SuperFrog for his surprise appearance, the kids absolutely enjoyed it!"
