Cover of TCU student scrapbook

This past year Special Collections took on a big project of digitizing scrapbooks of former TCU students and faculty. Each of the scrapbooks contains memorabilia that brings to life the experience of being a TCU student in the early 1900's.

During the digitization process, it was discovered that three of the scrapbooks belonged to a group of friends (between 1919- 1926) - Dura Louise Cockrell, Edwina Day and Donna Jean Billington. Every one of these historical scrapbooks is as unique as the student that made it.

The fascination is these scrapbooks not only offer a window into TCU's history, but present a snapshot in time through the memories and experiences of the TCU students and faculty who lived it. The new digitized scrapbook collection is available on the TCU Library website.

EXHIBITS

Cover of Ragged Dick by Horatio Alger, Jr.

Special Collections designed several charming exhibits for our perusal and edification. One exhibit explored the history of one of the most popular and socially influential authors of the nineteenth century, Horatio Alger, Jr. Alger is an author of boy's adventure stories whose heroes lead exemplary lives to strive and succeed in the face of adversity and poverty. His best known book is "Rags to Riches."

Currently on display is the history of KTCU-FM, the campus radio station. This mesmeric story examines the history about the early days of 88.7, "The Choice."
