2011/2012 Highlights | MCB Library 2011-2012 Annual Report

The TCU Library had some significant happenings this past year that made a difference to students, faculty, staff and Friends. None of it could have been possible without the outstanding leadership and teamwork of the library's staff.

FALL WELCOME

Students outside the library

The TCU Library kicked off the 2011-2012 academic year by welcoming students with an ice cold bottle of water. August was a record HOT! HOT! and the students much appreciated the opportunity to cool down.

FIRST-YEAR ORIENTATION

The Library helped incoming first-year students transition to TCU by helping them become acclimated to the university and introducing them to the library's resources and services.

"I LOVE THE TCU LIBRARY" CONTEST

We had our first annual student contest in celebration of Valentine's Day. It was the perfect opportunity for students to express their love for the library with a written message. The "I Love the TCU Library" contest was successful among the students with an overwhelming amount of entries.

TAKING A BREAK

During the week of spring finals the library gave away power/ energy drinks to students. Coke donated the drinks that we handed out during the four-day event.

TECHNOLOGY

  • Redesigned the Friends of the TCU Library website
  • Roll out of Facebook, social networking outlet to help stay connected with students and the TCU Community
  • Implemented Text-A-Librarian. This new service allows students to ask short, quick questions and in turn receive a quick, short response. Students use their cell phones to text their question to one of our TCU research librarians.

NEW FURNITURE
