Study Spaces Accommodate

Graduate Students

Graduate school is very different than undergraduate life. Maybe it’s because graduate students are a little older and a
little wiser, or maybe it’s because this is the culmination of everything they have learned up to this point in their lives, but
in graduate school, students often have more responsibility and more accountability. They are responsible for their own
future and they don’t have professors monitoring their progress or parents breathing down their neck. That means it is up
to them to develop the study skills necessary to succeed.

At the TCU Library, we strive to help students do their best work by providing spaces that accommodate a range of study
preferences. This is especially true for our graduate students. Graduate students need a study space that is quiet and a
place to relax between classes.

There are two rooms, located on the third floor, designed specifically for graduate students. The Graduate Study Commons
has lounge seating, open study spaces, computer workstations and lockers. The other room has a general reading area and
ten separate, smaller study rooms. These rooms are intended to foster interdisciplinary collaboration along with space for
serious study. It’s the perfect place for students when they really need to get things done. Graduate and Brite students can
access these rooms with a valid TCU ID Card.

Dissertation Writing Rooms are also available for graduate students. Graduate students writing a dissertation may apply
each semester for one of ten Dissertation Writing Rooms. Rooms are awarded by priority based on the student’s progress
in the writing process.
