Another academic year is
coming to a close. We began
spring semester with Fort Worth’s
own Four Day Weekend and their
“Yes And” workshop at our staff
Library In-Service (it was most
enjoyable and worthwhile). Mid-
semester, we hosted our second
fundraiser event, An Evening of
Great Conversation, and it was an
unforgettable evening with friends
and conversation. We are ending the semester with therapy
dogs to ease the stress of exam week for students. Whoever
said libraries aren’t the most enjoyable place to be?!
TCU is approaching a time of renewal for Academic Affairs,
the administrative home for the Library. Our much loved
Provost, Dr. Nowell Donovan, is retiring this month and
TCU’s new Provost, Dr. Teresa Dahlberg, begins her tenure.
Dr. Dahlberg comes to TCU from Syracuse University where
she was the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer
Science. Other transitions occurring this semester within
Academic Affairs are the hiring of Deans for Harris College
of Nursing and Health Sciences and the Neeley School of
Business. Recruitment searches for the next academic year
include Deans for the College of Education, College of Fine
Arts, College of Science & Engineering and AddRan College
of Liberal Arts. A time of transition for sure!
Another upcoming initiative for the fall will be a campus wide
focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). It’s more
than a initiative. It’s part of our core. Libraries, TCU’s library
in particular, have long championed diverse and inclusive
viewpoints when building strong library collections. Libraries
foster broad learning environments through a variety of
book and digital resources. For more information on the DEI
initiative, visit https://inclusion.tcu.edu.
Enjoy your summer and drop by for a visit!
