What’s Happening It’s Bigger and Better
At A Glance What’s new at the Mary Couts Burnett Library
Mary Couts Burnett Library opened its newly renovated east side on October 1, 2015, adding 16,000 square feet of new space
and amenities.
More than ever, our library is a place for curious minds. It’s a place you will want to explore.
First Floor
• Fabrication Lab with 3-D printing - a fabulous place to fabricate three dimensional objects. The 3-D printer is available for
use by students and faculty.
• Giga Lab - a lab for students whose classes use software requiring high-end computing capability. Includes multi-media
editing suites and twelve desktop computers.
• Screening Room - watch movies on a big screen around the clock. It’s also available for reserved screenings.
• Frog Pad - the IT Support HelpDesk’s new walk-up service center.
• Study Rooms and Spaces - two (or more) heads are better than one. There are group study areas and extra study spaces on
the first, second and third floors.
• Technology Sandbox - this is a place for trying out the latest in technical gadgets and software.
• Bistro Burnett - students, faculty and staff can feed their body as well as their minds in the new expanded Bistro Burnett!
• Lizard Lounge - an inviting new place that can be reserved by graduate students and faculty.
• Interactive Wall - a place to test your knowledge with a simple touch.
Second Floor
• Sumner Academic Heritage Room - this scholarly hall of fame will make you proud to part of TCU’s academic tradition.
• Research Support - every TCU school and college has its own dedicated subject liaison. You’ll never search alone!
• Reference Reading Room - a beautiful reading room when studying and using reference material.
• Information Commons - more than 100 workstations (including 13 Macs), and 55 laptops (including 5 Macs) available for
check out.
• Library Services - yes, you can still check out books. Request retrieval here or peruse the first and third floors.
Third Floor
Our third floor is part library, part museum!
• Dissertation Rooms - assigned study spaces for graduate students writing their dissertations.
• Graduate Reading Room - a seriously comfortable study area just for TCU graduate students.
• Special Collections - TCU’s rare books, archives and historical collections are one-of-a-kind.
• The Jim Wright Collection - Speaker of the House Jim Wright’s papers and personal artifacts showcase four decades of U.S.
history.
