Mission Statement

The TCU Library Instruction Program serves the students, faculty, and staff of Texas Christian University.

The purpose of the program is to assist the members of the TCU University community develop information-seeking abilities necessary for advanced scholarship and research. We provide instruction sessions and web-based tutorials that facilitate access to the vast resources offered in our Library.

Services

·  Library orientation tours.

·  Instruction to groups demonstrating effective use of the library's electronic and print resources.

·  Instruction on the proper use of library services.

·  Individual instruction targeted to the specific level of a patron's sophistication and needs.

Facilities

The Mary Couts Burnett Library IC Training Room (#219) is used to provide library patrons with instruction in the use of information resources available through the Library, such as the online catalog and other electronic research tools. It is also used by Technology Resources (TR) for training of TCU faculty and staff on various software products. The Training Room is jointly administered by Mary Couts Burnett Library and by TR.

The Training Room was created to provide a restricted training facility for TCU Library and Technology Resources staff use only.

The Library’s IC Training Room (#219) may be reserved by staff librarians or library student supervisors for library instruction, library student worker training, library staff development or library product vendor demonstration purposes. Technology Resources Services Trainers may also reserve the room for computer related training for faculty and staff as well as TR student worker training.
