What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?
The TCU Library ILL Department can borrow almost any book and obtain almost any journal article from several thousand libraries worldwide. As the ILL Department depends on the cooperation of other libraries, the average turnaround time for materials is 10-14 days.

An ILL shortcut, ILL Direct, is available to TCU'rs using FirstSearch the WorldCat database. Once you have identified a book you need, you may request it online from its WorldCat record. If the book is owned by at least 5 cooperating libraries, your request will go directly to a library (and eventually to the other 4, if necessary), thus speeding up the ILL process. When the book arrives in the TCU Library ILL Department, we will notify you.
If there is a problem of any kind with the request, it will go directly to TCU's ILL Department, where we will request the book for you. As of now, this service is only available for WorldCat items.
This service while it is a shortcut, is not a trackable system. Once the book is returned to the lending library we have no record of the transaction.

Document delivery is a service in which the library orders an article and sends it to you directly via email. All TCU faculty, staff and students may use document delivery. There is a limit of five document delivery article requests per day, and a limit of 25 per year.
These services provide an alternative to interlibrary loan for journal articles, especially if speed is of the essence. Contact reference@tcu.edu with any questions.

The OCLC Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program (RFBP) enables faculty members to directly access library collections at participating research libraries in the United States and Canada. Please note, if you are visiting a library within Texas, please utilize the Texshareprogram.
